MISSION STATEMENT

Matthew was born during a blizzard on a sour cherry farm in northern Michigan. He grew up in rural Ohio and relocated to Florida in 1994. The Sunshine State has been home ever since. While attending Florida State University, Matthew studied painting and photography. In addition, he worked as a museum technician at the Southeast Archaeological Center. This academic and professional experience led to Miami where he began working with artists, museums, galleries, and eventually managing a public art collection. Upon winning several large grants, Matthew began working on a digital documentation project for the multi-million-dollar collection of Miami-Dade Art in Public Places. 

However, the summer of 2017 brought Matthew many surprise changes and a major hurricane. After buying an old home in the rural Big Bend region of north Florida, he had never considered that hurricanes would be a threat. Ultimately, Hurricane Irma introduced Matthew into the insurance claim industry. During his time working on behalf of insurance carriers, Matthew was able to work the entire claim life cycle. Then, while completing his Master of Arts in Ethical Leadership, Matthew realized he wanted to coalesce his personal and professional experience. Mockingbird Public Adjusting (MPA) was created out of his conviction to advocate directly for policyholders.

Matthew and his family can be found ambling around the southeast. He is passionate about Florida's history alongside local conservation and preservation efforts. His days are spent working but also homeschooling, tending to his native garden, bird watching, hiking, drone photography, and participating in 4-H events across North Florida – where he is a volunteer.
