After years of working within the insurance company ecosystem, I recognized the immense need for policyholders to have an ethical and professional mediator advocating for them. Mockingbird Public Adjusting (MPA) was established to offer policyholders, in both commercial and/or residential insurance claims, complete resolution of their dispute. My community-based approach takes into consideration that your home and business is the place where life unfolds. Thus, any event that triggers the need for the filing of an insurance claim will inevitably disturb one’s sense of place. I aim to instill peace of mind as you navigate an unfamiliar environment created by the unknowns of your unique insurance claim. My mission is to elevate your voice in the process while assuring the ultimate claim resolution is documented thoroughly, negotiated ethically, and compensated fairly. Matthew was born during a blizzard on a sour cherry farm in northern Michigan. He grew up in rural Ohio and relocated to Florida in 1994. The Sunshine State has been home ever since. While attending Florida State University, Matthew studied painting and photography. In addition, he worked as a museum technician at the Southeast Archaeological Center. This academic and professional experience led to Miami where he began working with artists, museums, galleries, and eventually managing a public art collection. After winning several large grants, Matthew began working on several digital documentation projects for the multi-million-dollar collection of Miami-Dade Art in Public Places.
However, the summer of 2017 brought Matthew many surprise changes and a major hurricane. After buying an old home in the rural Big Bend region of north Florida, he had never considered that hurricanes would be a threat. Ultimately, Hurricane Irma introduced Matthew into the insurance claim industry. Initially, working on behalf of insurance carriers, Matthew was able to work the entire claim life cycle. It quickly became clear that resolving insurance claims was an opportunity to coalesce Matthew’s meandering experience.
In the past seven years, Matthew earned a Master of Ethical Leadership, became a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Circuit Mediator, got licensed as a FAA-Certified Drone Pilot, became an estimating expert with a Level 3 Xactimate Certification, and most recently, became a FL licensed Public Adjuster (W451717). Matthew and his family can be found ambling around the southeast homeschooling, gardening, bird watching, camping, visiting museums, and participating in 4-H events for Leon County where he is a volunteer.
